When do you need to go on safari?
Tanzania rewards travelers year-round, but the dry season from June to October offers the easiest wildlife viewing as animals gather around water and the bush thins out. The green season from November to March brings lush landscapes, fewer crowds and exceptional birdlife. We help you choose the window that matches the wildlife and atmosphere you most want to experience.
Where can you see chimpanzees?
Mahale Mountains and Gombe Stream, both along the shores of Lake Tanganyika, are the finest places on Earth to track wild chimpanzees. Access is by light aircraft and permits are limited — we handle every detail so your days in the forest feel effortless.
When is the best time for calving season in the Serengeti?
From late January to mid-March, the southern Serengeti and Ndutu plains fill with newborn wildebeest — up to 8,000 calves a day at the peak. Predator action is extraordinary, and the crowds are far thinner than during river-crossing season.
Where can you see gorillas?
Mountain gorillas live in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park and Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. We regularly weave gorilla tracking into longer East Africa itineraries — please allow three to six months lead time for permits.
